Aurora Borealis, Alaska

 The Aurora Borealis has definitely been an inspiration for Aurora Lacquers. 

And I'm so happy it did. They create MAGIC!
As they say : " The Magical night skies have a lot of meaning, the light patterns and stars to be seen are endless. Aurora Lacquers bring life to all dream and fantasies the subconscious has to say. This is our way of putting our imaginations into bottles."

I think its an incredible way of "Catching the Light " on our nails. ( Did you catch the reference to my blog name? )

Lets get onto the good stuff---nail polish!

These polishes are from the Mystic Mermaid collection. All are available right now at their store. Grab these while you can, ladies. They will go fast.

First up is Siren's Aura, which is a lovely amethyst linear holo with a slight duochrome shift.

Clearly, the holo shines through!

Outside, the day was not sunny. Of course, the weather wouldn't cooperate with me. I love the polish this way.

It was a shame the sun wasn't out this day. The holo was still visible but of course in direct sunlight the effect was much stronger.



Next up is Sailor Eye's

Sailor Eye's is a teal-blue linear holo with shimmery purple flecks.

 I used a Kiss nail tattoo,on top of Sailor Eyes. Even with the clear backing of the tattoo, the holo shines through. That is amazing♥

I love the holo rainbow!

This is such a stunning color. I got so many compliments.

Now we have Nixie, which is a clear base glitter with assorted sizes of green, teal and blue glitter. You can get opaque coverage of this polish with 3-4 coats or of course use it as a top coat.

Btw, Nixie means "Water Sprite" .

This is just three coats of Nixie! Nothing underneath!

This is on top of Sailor Eyes. 

Look at the sparkle! Reminds me of a mermaids tail.

Now, last but definitely not least, we have Nerina, which is a blue lagoon creme.

 In Greek, Nerina means "The Sea Nymphs"

This is Nerina, stamped with Siren's Aura. While it doesn't look that visible in the picture, in real life the effect was stunning.

 All Aurora Lacquers are made with a 5-free Base. There is no camphor, toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate ( DBP ) or formaldehyde resins.

All polishes come with 2 stainless steel mixing balls.

Prices are very reasonable for indie polishes. Holo's are $12, glitter/crellys $10, Cremes are $8.

Personally, reviewing these polishes was a pleasure. I think their formulas applied wonderfully. No running, pooling and it didn't flood my cuticles. The dry time was fast. I wore each polish for 5 days, following my normal routines. I cleaned, did laundry, dishes, even scrubbed the bathroom floor. At the end of day 5, there was very little visible tip wear and no chipping. A huge thumbs up for that!

Underneath all the polishes I used Sally Hansen Nail Rehab. On the glitters and cremes, I used Top Seal topcoat.

Rubberman, from Ruby White Tips

 Rubberman strikes again. This time in a handmade polish From Ruby White Tips..

 Laura Toff from Ruby White Tips was so kind to send me a second polish from her American horror collection, called Rubberman.

She told me it was a thermal, and not to go by how it looks in the bottle.

I was super excited to try it, as I've never owned a thermal polish before and had no idea why they were so popular.  Now, I DO! They are such fun.

This is two coats, and my hands were sort of cold. Now you know why I wish it was summer. The fun of a polish changing it color is awesome. Each nail is different., according to how warm/cold your fingers are.

I think it's amazing after washing dishes, they are a gorgeous pink, Then, walla...burgundy when they get cold again.

As you can see, they look different, all day long.
The polish itself is on the thick side, which is just fine by me. It's self-leveling and left no bald spots. A smooth and easy to apply polish, that does crazy fun things! 
The bottle comes with rhinestones attached to the tops, which is not only pretty but allows you to grip the brush better.

Lara Winters from Ruby White Tips

Ruby White Tips

How do you describe something that every time you look at it, it changes? A Chameleon? No, It's this new color from Ruby White Tips called Lara Winters from the American Horror Story Collection. ( Wait until you see Rubberman! )
Now the picture below is of the same polish. Yes, Yes, the lighting is different. But this polish blows my mind. Depending on the color I wear, it changes then too! Some times, it has a copper shimmer, sometimes pink. Gold, Silver, Bronze they all apply.

The polish has shimmer galore. The application was impeccable and  did not flood my cuticles nor did it leave bald spots. These pic's are all of three thin  coats, with Seche Vite top coat. Lara Winters will be available at the end of January.

I truly love the way this polish looks. I may even love it more than my hallowed holo's. It doesn't need special lighting to be awesome.

By the way, the next review is of Rubberman. Another polish from Ruby White Tips, the likes of which you've never seen.!

Legend of Sleepy Holo

Another beautiful polish from Dreamy Lacquer Company.

This isn't the Ichabod Crane I remember from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, but I don't mind. At all.

Now to the polish, and more eye candy.  This polish is a fabulous linear holograph, with strong holo flames. It's a gorgeous pumpkin/orange in regular light, and in sunshine it's an intense holo rainbow.

The bands of colors are tight and very vibrant. It looks like fiery sunshine to me.

 It requires no special base coat. The formulation is neither too thick or like many holo's, too thin. Top coat did not affect the holo and I used both Sally Hansen Big Shiny top coat and Nicole by OPI top coat plus. I also used it for both stamping and stamping over. The polish worked perfectly for both techniques.

As with all Dreamy Lacquer Company, the polish is made by hand and in small batches. The price is $10.00 for a full size bottle which is 15 mls.

I also used it as a topper for a variety of polishes, and  it was stunning. The pictures will follow this review because I want to do another review of the Dark tower pt.2 collection as undies and stamping polishes, with the beautiful holographic polish as a topper. 

If you like holographic polish, this is a incredible price for a holo.

Dreamy Lacquer Review

I'm swatching and reviewing three nail polishes from Dreamy Lacquer  today. Please be kind to me because it's my very first blog, review and swatch. Any and all faults are my own. I was sent three polishes from Dreamy lacquer and I'm so happy they took a chance with me.

Dreamy Lacquer is a online boutique, featuring hand made small batch nail polish. Each polish is 15mls, 0.5 fl ozs and retails for $8.00 . Dana makes the polishes and is inspired by Jessica's imagination. They are a super duo.

The polishes are from The Dark Tower Part 2 collection. The Dark tower is a series of books written by Stephen King. This book follows Roland of Gilead and his quest towards the Dark Tower. he encounters three doors, each opening into NYC in different time periods. The first door is 'The Prisoner ".

The Prisoner is a evergreen polish with subtle hints of shimmer. What I see is hints of gold, red and blue highlights. The polish went on smoothly, with an ease of application. It covered with one coat but when I did two thin coats, it came alive. I've been wearing it for over a week, washing dishes, doing laundry etc with NO chipping! Amazing.

The second door and polish  is called "The Lady of Shadows" 

This polish is a dark, near navy cream also with hints of silver shimmer. This was my favorite of the three but then I am partial to blues. This is two coats with no top coat. Isn't it shiny and pretty!

The third door is called "The Pusher, which if you want to get the reference, you'll need to read the book.

The polish is Death ( but not for you ) which is a rich burgundy-red . The picture shows more of bronze color but in person its burgundy, gorgeous. I had no trouble with application. Their polishes are a joy to use. And I love the bottle with its lady necklace. So pretty and feminine.
